Michaelmas

On a lovely clear, crisp Autumn day our school, families and friends came together to celebrate Michaelmas. This is our harvest festival, a time to give thanks to the earth for her bounty and a chance to subdue our inner ‘dragons’ before Winter’s arrival. After a story about Archangel Michael and the dragon the children led us in a merry procession around the churchyard, culminating with songs and dragon bread shared with the whole group.

As part of the celebrations we collected several baskets of beautiful produce, which this year were donated to Barnardo’s Cornerstone Project,  which supports families living in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. The service works with and alongside children, young people and families with the purpose of helping them have a positive experience of childhood and family life.
