Many thanks to everyone for making the Easter Cafe such a great success. There was a wonderful spread of food and a really good turnout of parents and friends. The older children made excellent waiters and it was lovely to hear Class I & II’s African and traditional songs. Together we raised £230, which will be divided between Sisonke School in South Africa and the International Kindergarten fund. You can see more photos on our Faebook page.
We were saddened to hear that shortly after on 21st April 2013 the beautiful town of Port St John (home to Sisonke School) was hit by torrential rains resulting in massive flooding to the area. People had to be rescued from their houses and were given emergency accommodation in the local school hall. Sadly some lives were lost as houses collapsed and roads were washed away. The school has been closed and many of the teachers and families have been evacuated from their homes.
In the Calder Valley we’re well aware of the devastation that can be caused by flooding. Sisonke School is making an appeal for emergency funds to help out those who have been affected worst. Please if you can help you can donate online at www.pepe.org.uk and click the Donate button. Thank you
